The Josh Hartnett starrer, directed by Scott Waugh, will be released in late 2017. It be one of the first films to be released in major market U.S. theatres in partnership with Barco’s Escape ultra-wide three-screen panoramic format for a fully immersive theatrical experience.
Based on a true story from 2004, the survival epic stars Hartnett as Eric LeMarque, the former Olympic hockey player who got caught in a storm while snowboarding and was stranded for eight days in subzero temperatures in the Sierra Nevadas. A modern Prodigal Son story, he is forced to fight for his life while facing his drug addiction and selfish behavior.
Tooley Productions' Tucker Tooley will produce alongside Hartnett and Waugh as well as Simon Swart and Brad Pilz of Rockpile Studios. Executive producers include Thomas Lesinski of Sonar Entertainment and Greg Renker.
UTA Independent Film Group arranged the financing and packaged the project. The deal was negotiated by Sejin Croninger for Momentum.
Good Universe is currently selling the film in Berlin.
